Writing product review articles

Something amazing happened today that I’m not expecting.

Tami, a representative from Coins.Ph contacted me and offered to feature my product review article on their blog and Facebook page. As a newbie blogger, this is really overwhelming because at last, someone is paying attention to what I’m writing about! (Lolz!)

We had a nice chat about what I do, how I stumbled upon their site and some user feedback on their services. I even gave her basic advice on wealth building and money management when she asked me what top three pieces of advice would I give to people who want to build wealth, especially if they’re new to it or don’t know about stocks. 😀

This made me remember something

I remembered TRC’s wealth strategy dated April 30, 2011. It’s about how to write well. In that newsletter, Bro. Bo explains how writing made him richer and shares his tips and insights on how to write not just books but for blogs, newsletters and articles.

After reading that wealth strategy newsletter sometime ago, it inspired me to write more about my stock market and online ventures in this blog. Even though I spend more time at work, I never stopped collecting ideas and reading topics about my niche. If an idea comes into my mind, I jot it down on my cellphone’s notepad to preserve that idea to make an article about it in my blog. That’s what that article taught me.

When I have finally written my Coins.Ph user review after using their service for nine days, I received a comment from them in my post. Days later, my blog post is now featured on their site and I’m receiving a decent traffic from them not to mention a quality backlink and a few user signups on my affiliate link.

Do you know that it really is overwhelming when people respond to what you write? When I got my first blog comment in my very first few articles, I was too excited to post a reply because finally, someone is reading the stuff I write. After that, more comments come in and some even sent me positive messages in email and Facebook. The positive words and thank-you emails motivated me to write and share more content that’s useful to my target audience. I’m still on the learning stages of blog writing and as of now, I think I’m doing a good job about it.

Writing Product Review Articles

It’s relatively easy to write a product review article. Just tell your audience your true experiences on the product or services you’re writing about. But to be effective, you should follow these few tips as taught by Bro. Bo on his wealth strategy article “How to Write Well“;

  • Write simply. Write your articles as if your just talking to your reader face to face. If you sound to scholarly, that would be boring to read. You have to tell your stories on a layman’s point of view so that you can attract a wider range of audiences. Tell your audience what you have experienced by using their product or service. Tell them the advantages and disadvantages. Tell them a story and try to keep it simple as much as possible.
  • Your writing must move people. The very important thing is to attract your potential reader from the first sentence of your blog post. It should entice them to read more. If you don’t touch their emotions or spark excitement, then you’ll not move them to read more. I had many articles that was already shared by some of the people who had a chance to read my blog. If someone shared your article in social media, then it is already a proof that your article has value in it.
  • Plant hooks. Hooks make readers want to finish your article. Hooks are stories, quotes, analogies or anything that will make your readers read more. I’m just starting to learn how to use these writing elements and from the feedback I get, I think it’s effective.

In addition to the tips above, it’s also important to employ proper SEO techniques. One technique is to use the proper focus keywords. In my coins.ph review article, it is found on the 2nd page of Google. As much as possible, you want to be on top of the search engine for you to gain the most readers out of the free traffic that Google provides.

The bottom line

Writing product review articles is not as hard as you think it is. You just need to;

  • be honest about what you write,
  • learn how to learn to write well as per Bro. Bo,
  • employ SEO on every article you make,
  • promote your content to your target audience and
  • let your readers engage to increase your social reach.

If you do it right, you can also make some money too if you setup your blog for monetization.

Have fun writing!
